The state will allocate 8 billion hryvnias for prosthetics and rehabilitation equipment in 2026

In 2026, the Ukrainian government will allocate 8 billion hryvnias to provide people with prosthetics and rehabilitation aids. This was announced by the Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine, Denys Ulyutin, during the opening of a new Prosthetics and Orthotics Laboratory in Kharkiv.

The new centre was opened at the University Hospital of Kharkiv National Medical University with the support of the International Committee of the Red Cross. It is the first state institution in the region to provide a full range of services, from the manufacture and fitting of prostheses and orthoses to ongoing maintenance.

The project also includes a master’s programme in Prosthetics and Orthotics, which aims to train new specialists and improve the qualifications of doctors and technicians in this field.

‘In 2026, the state will allocate UAH 8 billion to provide prostheses and rehabilitation aids. We want to create conditions so that the state programme is used in places where it is most needed,’ said Denys Ulyutin.

The minister emphasised that the Ministry of Social Policy is forming a comprehensive support system, where assistance to individuals is structured as a single pathway — from the moment of injury to full recovery.
