Taras Shpuk was a veteran, military serviceman, coach and mentor for the Invictus Games, Warrior Games and Air Force Trials teams. It was thanks to his persistence that wheelchair basketball became part of veteran sports in Ukraine. His colleagues recall that he always knew how to motivate and inspire, and every future veteran match will now begin with a minute of silence in his memory.

The organisers emphasise that for security reasons, the venue will only be disclosed to registered participants. The match will start at 12:00. The event is part of a collaboration between the Invictus Games project and the PUMB’s ‘Live to Meet’ platform, which helps veterans discover new opportunities after returning from war. The event is also supported by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine and Stratcom Ukraine.
