In one day, three teams of volunteers from the Ukrainian Red Cross Rapid Response Unit in Sumy evacuated five residents of the Bytitska community.
Two residents of Pushkarivka, 85-year-old Olena Bezpala and 65-year-old Lilia Shelekhova, were taken to their relatives in Sumy, along with their belongings and their pet cat. From the village of Bytitsya in the Sumy district, 82-year-old Nadiya Mamed, who needed outside help, was transported to the regional centre. Another evacuation was a trip for the Sheremet family: a woman and her 9-year-old daughter were also taken to Sumy.

Due to constant shelling of border and frontline settlements in the Sumy region, more and more residents are being forced to leave their homes. The Ukrainian Red Cross in the region regularly evacuates the most vulnerable categories of the population — the elderly, people with disabilities, and families with children.
