At an international conference in Chișinău titled “Outstanding Universal Value of the Cultural Complex Precucuteni–Ariuşd–Cucuteni–Trypillia: Architectural Heritage”, Ukraine, Romania, and Moldova signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The document concerns the preparation and promotion of a joint nomination for the inclusion of the cultural complex Precucuteni–Ariuşd–Cucuteni–Trypillia in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The memorandum was signed by Acting Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine Tetiana Berezhna, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Moldova Sergiu Prodan, and Minister of Culture of Romania András István Demeter.
According to Tetiana Berezhna, this event carries symbolic significance for the three countries and for Europe as a whole. She emphasized that this shared heritage, which is over six thousand years old, offers a unique perspective on early urbanism, cultural traditions, and the spiritual life of ancestors.
The memorandum sets out the parties’ intention to jointly work on the nomination dossier, which will help preserve the unique archaeological heritage while also strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties between the countries. Representatives of Ukraine expressed gratitude to their Moldovan and Romanian colleagues for their support, including during wartime, as well as for their solidarity in preserving historical memory.
The conference gathered experts from various countries, with Ukraine represented by Artem Paliienko, Director of the Ukrainian State Institute of Cultural Heritage, along with a group of specialists. The Ukrainian side expressed hope that the next such meeting could take place in Ukraine.
