At an off-site meeting on September 17, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a series of decisions expanding the system of support for internally displaced persons (IDPs). The measures include additional medical, social, and housing services, as well as financial assistance to prepare for winter.
According to Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, displaced persons will now be able to receive medical consultations directly at their temporary accommodation sites. If necessary, they will also have access to treatment in healthcare facilities for up to 30 days.
A separate social service has been introduced for low-mobility IDPs. It provides not only accommodation but also everyday household assistance. The service will be co-financed by the state and local budgets.
Another area of support is financial aid for purchasing firewood for the winter. Each eligible IDP household that has not received payments from international organizations will be able to count on about 8,000 UAH. This assistance will reach 32,000 families, with payments handled by the Pension Fund.
In addition, the government has allocated one billion UAH in subventions to local authorities. The funds will be used for the construction, restoration, and renovation of housing for displaced persons. In frontline regions, all expenses for such projects will be fully covered by the subvention.
