The overwhelming majority of Ukrainian citizens remain confident in the possibility of defeating Russia, provided the country receives sufficient assistance from its Western partners. These are the findings of a new survey conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS).
According to the study, 76% of respondents believe in Ukraine’s victory if sanctions against Russia and its allies are strengthened and if Ukraine is provided with the necessary financial and military aid — including long-range missiles, air defense systems, and fighter jets.
At the same time, 15% of those surveyed believe that even under such conditions Ukraine would not be able to secure victory, while another 9% were undecided.
KIIS has carried out similar surveys in the past, in December 2023 and September 2024. Back then, the question was not about victory but about achieving success on the frontline. In September of last year, 81% of Ukrainians believed success was possible, while 14% thought it unattainable even with Western support.
The institute concludes that public confidence has remained almost unchanged over the past year. A convincing majority of Ukrainians continue to view victory as realistic, provided that international partners deliver sufficient support, primarily in the form of effective sanctions and modern weaponry.
