The day care service provides for the development and socialisation of children under the supervision of specialists — teachers, psychologists, educators, social workers and medical professionals. At the same time, parents receive advice and support for organising their daily lives.
Children aged 3 to 18 with disabilities or serious illnesses can use the service, even if their disability has not been officially established. To do so, they must submit an application to the local social protection authority or to an authorised representative of the local council if there is no such authority in the community.
According to Petro Dobromilsky, head of the State Service for Children, the development of such services is an important tool of state policy in the field of child protection. Because supporting families and caring for children is an investment in the future of Ukraine.
