The Kyivpastrans team was among the top five at the 1st Official World Tram Driver Championship, which took place in Vienna. Ukraine was represented at the competition by drivers Galina Zagorna and Svetlana Afanasyeva, who performed well in the first round, taking fourth place. At the end of the championship, the Kyiv team came in fifth.
According to the Kyiv City State Administration, participants were tested in several disciplines that are as close as possible to the daily work of tram drivers. The tests included precise stopping of the tram, targeted braking, speed control, moving a handcar, navigating narrow turns, and transporting liquid cargo.
This year, representatives from 25 countries, including European countries, Brazil and Australia, took part in the championship. The Ukrainian team’s participation was an opportunity to demonstrate not only the professionalism of tram drivers, but also the level of training of transport personnel in the capital.
