Ukraine has summarised the results of the flu and SARS epidemic season

An annual national meeting was held in Kyiv to discuss the results of influenza and SARS surveillance in 2024–2025 and preparations for the new season. Representatives of the Public Health Centre, the WHO Office in Ukraine and the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention took part in the event.

According to Oleksiy Danilenko, acting director general of the Public Health Centre, the current off-season period shows lower COVID-19 rates compared to last year, but the upward trend continues. The WHO noted that a typical morbidity scenario is predicted for Ukraine, as no significant changes in circulating influenza strains have been recorded.

CEC specialists emphasised that the previous epidemic season had a classic course with widespread respiratory viruses in all regions, but with a low level of intensity. Key tasks for the next season include reducing morbidity and mortality, expanding vaccination for risk groups, and integrating Ukrainian data into the European surveillance system.
