More than half of Ukrainians believe that using wild animals in circuses, dolphinariums, and zoos is unacceptable. These findings come from a study conducted by the Fama agency at the request of UAnimals. The survey reflects a shift in public attitudes toward animal exploitation, which was previously often associated with childhood memories.
According to the results, 55.2% of respondents stated that entertainment practices involving animals are unacceptable. Another 24.4% consider them acceptable, while 6.1% were undecided. Many participants noted that their views changed over time as they learned more about the conditions in which animals are kept and realized that such entertainment often involves suffering.
The study emphasizes that animal-free circuses are a global trend that is actively developing. In Ukraine, UAnimals has been campaigning for nine years to ban the use of animals in circuses. The organization is advocating for draft law No. 5409, which has yet to be considered by the Verkhovna Rada.
