The Ukrainian book market is showing confident growth in 2025. According to a study published by the Ukrainian Book Institute, publishers and booksellers improved their financial results in the first half of this year compared to the same period in 2024, despite concerns among market players about a challenging start to the year.
Half of the companies surveyed increased their revenues by more than a quarter. The leaders in growth rates were the bookstore “Ridit”, which boosted its financial results by 64%, and the publishing house “RM”, which demonstrated a 130% increase.
The largest revenues among publishers still belong to Ranok, KSD, and Vivat. The first two earned over 650 million hryvnias in six months, while Vivat brought in 185 million hryvnias, increasing sales by 75% compared to last year. Among bookstores, the top spot in revenue was taken by the trading house “Metaverse World” with 144 million hryvnias.
Overall, 22 out of the 30 companies surveyed reported profit growth. The production of books and art publications also increased: the number of titles rose by 25% (7,131 compared to 5,714 in 2024), and print runs grew by 37% (14.73 million copies compared to 10.78 million).
Most printing houses also improved their performance, with only one showing a slight decline of 1% compared to last year. Analysts believe these trends indicate a gradual recovery of the industry and growing interest in Ukrainian books, even under wartime conditions.
