An art project to support the mothers and wives of fallen heroes has been launched in Vinnytsia

A nationwide charity art project called “Alive: True Love Stories” has been launched in Vinnytsia, aimed at the social and psychological rehabilitation of the wives and mothers of soldiers who gave their lives for Ukraine.

The first stage began on August 12 at the Vinnytsia Regional Art Museum. During this stage, ten mothers of fallen heroes will create paintings, conveying through them memories of dreams and plans that did not come true, and will record their own stories.

According to Olga Dernova, head of the Department of Culture and Creative Industries of the Vinnytsia Regional State Administration’s Department of Humanitarian Policy, this project aims to show that art can be an effective tool in overcoming the consequences of war and restoring women’s vitality, helping to preserve the memory of their loved ones.

The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with the Vinnytsia Regional Organization of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine and four artists from Vinnytsia — Serhiy Bartko, Iryna Kravchenko, Oleksandr Peleshko, and Ivan Gorobchuk.

Earlier, as part of an art therapy project, mothers of fallen defenders created “handkerchiefs of memory” with a symbolic image of a heart — the embodiment of maternal love, pain, and memory.
