Ukraine has a programme that allows veterans, female veterans and their family members to receive compensation for the cost of contract-based education. The amount of the payment is up to 15 times the minimum subsistence level — 45,400 hryvnias as of 2025.

Programme details
Compensation is provided for professional training, retraining, advanced training, obtaining a new speciality, and master’s degree studies. Depending on the cost of education, the programme may cover all expenses or pay a significant portion of them.
The following are eligible to participate:
- veterans;
- their husbands or wives;
- children under 23 years of age;
- family members of deceased or dead military personnel;
- persons with special merits to Ukraine and their relatives.

How to obtain compensation
To take advantage of the programme, you must select an educational institution and submit an application to the structural unit responsible for veteran policy at your place of residence or stay. After that, a referral for training is issued, and a tripartite agreement is concluded between the unit, the educational institution and the applicant.
