Starting on 1 September, students in grades 4–11 will learn how to use resources wisely and save energy in their daily lives. The topic of energy efficiency will be integrated into existing curricula without placing an additional burden on students.
As part of the Energy Efficiency Lessons project, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has prepared manuals for teachers to make lessons more interesting and practical. The materials have been adapted for integration into model programmes such as Discovering Nature, STEM, Environment, Technology, Natural Sciences, etc.
According to Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi, the first stage of the initiative was to train more than 2,200 teachers, and the second was to create manuals for grades 4, 5–6, 8–9, and 10–11. They contain tips for practical lessons and extracurricular activities.
The project is being implemented by the Ministry of Education and Science in partnership with the All-Ukrainian Charitable Organisation “Institute for Local Development” with the support of the World Bank. It is part of a larger initiative to introduce the topic of green energy into education within the LEARN project.
