On 1 August, the Mariampol Cultural Centre in Lithuania opened a photo exhibition entitled “Fragments of People” by Ukrainian photographer Anastasia Zhdanova. In her photographs, she tells the stories of mothers, children, soldiers and civilians she met in the frontline and de-occupied territories of Ukraine.
The exhibition shows not only moments of life in the combat zone, but also deeper emotions — loss, fear, tenderness, and dignity — that are not always visible at first glance. During the opening of the exhibition, visitors had the opportunity to talk with the author, who shared her own view on the power of photography in understanding the war experience.
The opening was attended by Viktor Hamotsky, Deputy Ambassador of Ukraine to Lithuania, representatives of the Lithuanian local authorities, volunteers and the Ukrainian community. In their speeches, the guests emphasised the importance of such cultural initiatives for understanding the human dimension of the war in Ukraine.
The exhibition will run until 21 August in the lobby on the first floor of the Mariampole Cultural Centre.
