The UN cash assistance program has come to an end. Ukrainians received 5 billion hryvnia

The joint program of additional cash assistance for Ukrainians from vulnerable groups, which has been implemented since August 2023 by the Ministry of Social Policy, the Pension Fund, and the United Nations World Food Program (WFP), has come to an end.

During the year of its operation, approximately 390,000 pensioners, persons with disabilities, and those who were not eligible for a pension received an average of 219 million hryvnia per month. The total amount of payments exceeded 5 billion hryvnia.

The aid was allocated to low-income people living in regions close to the combat zone who do not receive other payments from international organizations. This included residents of Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Luhansk, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Sumy regions who receive a monthly pension or social assistance of less than 3,250 hryvnias.

July 2025 was the last month when payments were made under this program. According to the organizers, its completion is due to funding constraints. However, if new resources become available, the program may be resumed or replaced by another form of support.

The project helped reduce the financial burden on people in the frontline regions most affected by the war and became one of the examples of effective cooperation between state institutions and international partners in crisis conditions.
