Starting 1 August, Ukrzaliznytsia will launch a test phase of identity verification when buying or returning tickets for certain trains. To purchase a travel document for a number of popular destinations, passengers will need to confirm their identity through Diia.Signature.

The new rules apply to trains No. 105/106 Odesa – Kyiv, No. 91/92 Lviv – Kyiv, No. 29/30 Kyiv – Uzhhorod, No. 12 Lviv – Odesa and No. 27/28 Kyiv – Chop. During the testing period, tickets for these trains will be available only online with mandatory verification. Sales at the ticket office will be temporarily unavailable.
Ukrzaliznytsia explains that in this way it seeks to reduce the number of abuses when booking and purchasing tickets.
At the same time, the innovation does not affect trains with a special reserve for the military. Defenders will still be able to book and purchase tickets through the company’s special services, including the Army+ platform.
The company also notes that it is simultaneously working on the introduction of BankID authorisation in the Ukrzaliznytsia mobile application.
