On Thursday night, a drone hit the field base of the humanitarian organisation Norwegian People’s Aid (Norsk Folkehjelp) in the city of Mykolaiv, in southern Ukraine. This was reported by the organisation’s section chief Rune Dahle-Andersen in a commentary for NRK.
Norwegian People’s Aid currently employs about 400 people who are engaged in demining near the frontline in the south of the country. No one was injured in the incident.
“We don’t know if it was a Russian drone shot down by Ukrainian forces or a drone that directly hit our base. We are trying to find out,” said Dahle-Andersen.
This is the first time a drone has been shot down so close to the organisation’s location. According to Dahle-Andersen, this time they were lucky – there were no staff in the camp at the time of the attack, and the damage was only material.
