The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved a new procedure for the recognition of educational results for students who are outside the country. From now on, Ukrainian educational institutions are obliged to automatically re-calculate grades from foreign schools in accordance with the national scale if a student provides a relevant document.

The decision was a response to the growing number of children studying abroad due to the war and simplifies their return to the Ukrainian education system without unnecessary bureaucratic procedures.
One of the key innovations is the creation of an official register of educational centres abroad that will be subject to state verification. After being included in the register, the results of education in such centres will be recognised without additional assessment.
The law also provides for the recognition of non-formal education. This is possible either by passing a standard assessment in a Ukrainian school or by re-calculating the results of Ukrainian studies subjects – if the educational centre is registered in the AIKOM electronic system.
Applications to the register of educational centres will start in autumn 2025 via the official website of the Ministry of Education and Science. The algorithm and verification criteria will be published later.
The Ministry of Education and Science notes that the new mechanism will simplify the educational path for children studying in different countries and allow them to integrate seamlessly into the Ukrainian educational system.
