The flow of Ukrainians travelling abroad again exceeds the number of those returning. This was reported by sociologist Volodymyr Paniotto, commenting on recent migration trends. According to him, previously, it was mainly families with children who returned to Ukraine, but now the elderly and single people prevail among those who return.

According to the surveys, the main reason for returning is the desire to be close to loved ones – this is important for 70% of respondents. Another 28% return in search of work, and 23% return because they need to find housing. Only 8% cite the improved security situation as a reason for returning.
At the same time, experts note that many Ukrainians who left during the full-scale war may not return at all. This applies primarily to those who have chronically ill relatives or have already settled in other countries with higher living standards.
Individual states have different reactions to the presence of Ukrainian refugees. Canada has assured that it will not carry out forced deportations. Germany, on the other hand, despite court decisions, maintains re-entry restrictions for those who submit new asylum applications.
