Ukrainian science fiction tragicomedy You Are Space, directed by Pavlo Ostrikov, won two awards at the prestigious Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival (NIFFF) in Switzerland. The film won the Youth Award for Best Feature Film and the Audience Award from the Swiss broadcaster RTS. This was reported by the Ukrainian State Film Agency.
The film won both awards in the International Competition section, which recognises the strongest genre films of the world level. “You Are Space tells the story of a Ukrainian trucker, Andriy, who finds himself the only survivor in the universe after the Earth explodes. His loneliness is broken by a signal from the French scientist Catherine, and the characters decide to fly towards each other.
The lead role was played by actor and current Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman Volodymyr Kravchuk. Some episodes were dubbed by Leonid Popadko, who also serves in the Defence Forces. The film already has a considerable international history: it was recognised as one of the best films of 2024 by the British Film Institute, and in 2025 it won the Audience Award at a festival in France, an award in Italy, and two wins at the Lyon Experimental Film Festival.
