A new resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers is coming into force in Ukraine, which significantly strengthens the protection of mobile communication users. The document provides for the mandatory blocking of spam calls, advertising without the subscriber’s consent, and fake calls that may be related to fraud or misinformation.

From now on, mobile operators will be required to filter unwanted calls. If a company wants to make calls to its customers, it must enter into an agreement with the operator and register its own numbers. Otherwise, such a call may be considered spam. In case of violation, subscribers will be able to file a complaint with their operator, who will block the violator’s number.
In addition to combating spam, the resolution provides for other important innovations. In particular, subscribers in the combat zone will not lose contact due to non-payment for services — SIM cards will not be blocked there. When connecting to the network for the first time in these regions, users will also receive a free package for communicating with their relatives.
Operators will also have to specify the Internet speed directly in the contract with the customer. In case of non-compliance with the declared indicators, the subscriber will be able to file a complaint with the NCC or go to court. Another innovation is access to complete information about expenses and the ability to manage paid services through a personal account.
