Kyiv hosted the All-Ukrainian Forum “Children of our Defenders – Care that Unites” dedicated to supporting children who lost their parents due to the war. The event became an important platform for coordinating the efforts of the state, civil society and business. Participants discussed the urgent needs of children who have been left without parental care as a result of Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine.

The Head of the State Service of Ukraine for Children, Petro Dobromilsky, said that more than 61,000 orphans and children deprived of parental care are registered in Ukraine. Most of them are under guardianship, in foster families or family-type children’s homes. Because of the war, more than 3,000 of these children were evacuated, including abroad.
One of the key events of the forum was the presentation of the charity platform “For the Children of Our Defenders”, which is intended to improve the coordination of assistance, information exchange and support for carers. The focus is on providing children with housing, education, medical care, psychological assistance and mentoring.
Special attention was paid to recreation: this year, more than 4,500 children have already had a rest at the Artek International Children’s Centre, including almost 2,000 children of military personnel.
