The threat of landmines in Ukraine continues to grow each day. To reduce risks and raise public awareness, the Ukrainian Red Cross has launched an initiative in the Poltava region titled “Explosive Ordnance Risk Education and Safer Behavior.”
As part of the project, mine safety instructors have already undergone training. After certification, they will begin holding meetings with local residents to inform them about:
• types of explosive ordnance;
• risks associated with mines and ammunition;
• signs of hazardous areas;
• safety rules in case suspicious objects are discovered.
Expanding the geography of such activities will help reach more Ukrainians and reduce the number of incidents involving explosive objects through active cooperation with communities and regular information sessions.
