Two orphans returned from temporarily occupied Kherson region

Two young Ukrainians, who have been without parental care since childhood, have been successfully evacuated from the territory of Kherson region, which is currently under temporary occupation. Both went through an extremely difficult experience under the control of the Russian military, said Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the OVA.

One of the boys shared his story: he was kidnapped right out of school after finding ammunition in the forest. After that, he was beaten by the Russian military. On the eve of his coming of age, he received a call-up to serve in the army of the aggressor state. Unfortunately, such cases are becoming more and more frequent in the temporarily occupied territories, where the basic rights of children and youth from Ukraine are being violated.

Both rescued children are now safe and receive comprehensive support, including medical, psychological and social assistance, necessary to overcome their experiences.

This evacuation was made possible thanks to the work of the Save Ukraine charity foundation. The organisation operates within the framework of the Presidential initiative Bring Kids Back UA, which aims to bring home Ukrainian children and young people illegally taken or detained in the occupation zone.
