In Poltava region, serious human rights violations were found in a psychiatric institution. During a monitoring visit by the National Preventive Mechanism (NPM) to the Regional Psychiatric Care Facility, 29 patients reported that they were being held there against their will.

According to them, their documents and mobile phones were confiscated, and they were forced to work for free. People were held in a building where coercive medical measures were previously used.
The investigative team of the National Police of Ukraine, representatives of the regional prosecutor’s office and the management of the institution were called to the scene. Criminal proceedings have been opened, and investigative actions are underway.
The representative of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights in Poltava region, Vladyslav Nosenko, stressed that the case is under the Commissioner’s personal control.
