The spring planting campaign has been completed in the forests of Poltava and Kharkiv regions. The Slobozhansky Forestry Office branch of the state enterprise Forests of Ukraine continues to restore mixed forests, combining scots pine with oak, birch and other hardwoods. This approach makes the plantations more resistant to climate change, fires, diseases and pests.

This spring, foresters reforested and planted about 800 hectares of forests, planting more than 6 million seedlings of tree species. In Poltava region, the largest amount of forest was planted in Poltava (206 hectares) and Myrhorod (234.4 hectares) supra-forestry. Particular attention was paid to the areas affected by a large-scale fire: more than 90 hectares of forest in small areas were restored in Malopereshchepynske and Novosanzharske forestries.
In Kharkiv region, Zhovtneve supra-forestry became the leader in spring planting with 183 hectares of new plantations. The priority area for restoration is the Izyum supra-forestry, where forests were damaged by hostilities and occupation in 2022. Despite the risks posed by the proximity to the frontline, we managed to plant more than 42 hectares of forest in safe areas.
The planting is carried out mechanically, using a tractor and a forestry machine, which significantly speeds up the process. In hard-to-reach areas, manual planting is used.
