The Czech Republic remains one of the key countries for Ukrainians who were forced to flee their homes due to the war. As of early May 2025, 160,000 Ukrainian refugees have already been employed in the country. This was announced by Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala during a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Prague, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

According to Fiala, the Czech Republic has become a leader among EU countries in terms of the number of Ukrainians accepted per capita. He stressed that the integration of refugees is going well, despite the difficulties faced by society at the initial stage.
Fiala noted that further steps towards Ukrainians will depend on the development of the situation in Ukraine. He also reminded that the current temporary protection programme in the EU has been extended until March 2026.
