Ukraine will create a single digital museum of memorial sites in 2025

The process of creating a unified digital museum of memorial sites has begun in Ukraine. This was announced by Alyona Shkrum, First Deputy Minister of Communities and Territories Development, during the forum “Strategy for the Development of Culture in Ukraine for 2025-2030”.

Each region will submit proposals for the creation of five pilot places of memory. They will be recorded, digitized, and added to a single online platform. This resource will become the basis for the formation of a large national memorialization route.

It is expected that the digital museum will be available in several languages and will use modern technologies, including virtual reality (VR), which will allow visitors to immerse themselves deeper in the historical context without the need to implement large-scale, expensive projects.

Particular attention is planned to be paid to the inclusiveness of memorialization sites to ensure accessibility for people with disabilities, including war veterans. As a result of the working meetings, proposals have already been developed that can form the basis for the standards of the future project.

The Ministry of Communities and Territories Development emphasizes that modern technologies make it possible to preserve the memory of important historical events more effectively and make it accessible to a wide audience both in Ukraine and abroad.
