On the eve of Easter, Ukrainian prisoners of war started receiving letters from their families and parcels from the International Committee of the Red Cross.
This was reported by the Human Rights Commissioner Dmytro Lubinets.
This happens according to pre-agreed lists of 1500 people, which the Ombudsman’s Office exchanged with the Russian side in early March. The families of the prisoners handed them letters, and the ICRC prepared the parcels.
‘In addition, we discussed with the Russian side the continuation of the practice of exchanging letters from prisoners of war as a way of informing families about their fate, as well as measures to return prisoners of war and resolve humanitarian issues,’ Lubinets added.
