The Vienna University of Applied Arts has enrolled the artificial intelligence chatbot Flynn. This was reported by the Washington Post.
Two students of this university, Kjara Kristler and Marcin Ratajczyk, created the chatbot and instructed it to act like a student. It uses its tools to give voice responses and create artwork.
‘Flynn’ is treated like any other student, according to the university’s professors. He attends classes before enrolling in the autumn, listening to lectures, collaborating with fellow students, and receiving grades for his work. Theoretically, AI could get a diploma.
According to the creators, the chatbot was created to test the limits of AI tools. It is not a separate program but a combination of open source tools. Students and teachers can freely communicate with Flynn in the classroom.
‘Many people are afraid of artificial intelligence. They feel that it can take away their jobs. I think it can help people understand how AI works,’ says Anika Meyer, a university lecturer.
