Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, became the first member of the British royal family to visit Ukraine since the start of the full-scale war. His visit to Lviv and the Superhumans Centre is part of the 10-year history of The Invictus Games Foundation, an international competition for wounded soldiers and veterans that he founded in 2014.

Having spent ten years in the British army and two tours of duty in Afghanistan, Harry is deeply involved in rehabilitation and support for the military. He was motivated to create the Invictus Games after attending the Warrior Games in the US, and the following year the first competition took place in London. The name ‘Invictus’ — inspired by a poem by William Ernest Henley – has become a symbol of indomitable spirit.
The Superhumans Centre specialises in prosthetics, rehabilitation, and support for the Ukrainian military. Harry met with the participants of this year’s Invictus Games in Canada, where, in particular, Ukrainian fighter Oleksiy Prytula impressed him with his patriotism. It was there that the prince was presented with a bracelet with the inscription: ‘Whoever saves one life saves the whole world’, which he still wears.
During his visit, Harry said he was impressed with the Centre’s work, its atmosphere and dedication. According to the staff, he spent several hours among the patients and staff, showing sincerity, attentiveness, and respect for everyone.
‘This is my first visit to Ukraine — and definitely not my last,’ he said, stressing the importance of continuing to support Ukrainian veterans through the international community.
