The Kyiv Independent is launching a programme for three regional media outlets in Ukraine that have been affected by the suspension of US grant funding. The programme is being launched in partnership with UNESCO and with the support of the people of Japan. The programme includes four days of practical consultancy work with media managers of the Kyiv Independent and their partners. This should help the media outlet to recover from the financial crisis and reduce its dependence on foreign funding.
After the 4-day consultancy programme, participating media organisations will receive grants of up to $5,000 to launch an additional source of income. This was announced by Daryna Shevchenko, CEO of The Kyiv Independent.
The following organisations can apply for the programme:
- regional and local media;
- media organisations that have suffered budget cuts of more than 50% due to the freezing of US funding.
Preference will be given to those organisations that already have ideas on how to diversify their sources of income and are ready to launch a new source of revenue immediately.
You can apply here until 23:59 on 3 April. Media organisations that are selected to participate in the programme will be notified by 7 April. The consultancy programme will start as soon as the selected media organisations confirm their participation.
