Ukrzaliznytsia still restores online services after cyberattack

Ukrzaliznytsia specialists, together with partners and experts, continue to work on restoring online services after a large-scale cyberattack. The backup infrastructure has already been deployed in a secure environment, systems are being diagnosed and backups are being checked for potential threats. An important step is to restore the complex connections between the company’s digital services that provide ticketing and passenger services.

Specialists from the SBU Cyber Department, the State Cyber Defence Centre, the Government Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-UA) at the State Special Communications Service, as well as Ukrainian and international cyber experts are actively involved in the work. The experience of Kyivstar’s IT team, which had previously survived a large-scale attack, was a valuable resource for the rapid recovery of systems.

Despite the difficulties, trains are running on schedule and ticket offices are operating in an enhanced mode. In Kyiv, for example, the number of open ticket offices was temporarily more than doubled to minimise inconvenience to passengers. The Ukrzaliznytsia team assures that it is doing everything possible to restore the full operation of online services as soon as possible.
