The Ukrainian authorities managed to return a 17-year-old girl who had lived under occupation for more than a decade to the territory under their control. This was reported by Daria Zarivna, advisor to the Presidential Office.
‘Alina, who was only 7 years old when her hometown came under occupation in 2014, was forced to spend her entire childhood and adolescence in an environment of continuous propaganda and limited opportunities,’ the OP advisor wrote.

In Ukraine, her uncle was waiting for her, ready to help her start a new life. However, it was extremely difficult to leave the temporarily occupied territory, and any attempt could be dangerous. Now she is finally home, with her family, who are supporting her in this new phase of her life.
The return took place as part of the Bring Kids Back UA initiative aimed at returning Ukrainian children from the occupied territories. Earlier, the initiative managed to return two children who had lived under occupation all their lives. Three more children were also returned from the temporarily occupied regions — a 17-year-old boy and two young boys.
