The Polish Senate adopts amendments to laws on employment conditions for foreigners

The Polish Senate has approved two draft laws of the Ministry of Labour with amendments — on the labour market and employment services, as well as on the conditions of employment of foreigners. The documents will now be submitted to the Sejm, which will decide whether to adopt the changes. The final word will be up to the president.

The new labour market law provides for the modernisation of the employment service in line with the needs of the modern market. Key changes include the possibility of registering at the employment centre at the place of residence rather than the place of registration, lifting the age limit for receiving support and the introduction of a new online job search system. Financial assistance for large families and single parents will also be provided, and additional payments for employment service employees will increase from PLN 600 to PLN 1,000.

With regard to the employment of foreigners, the law aims to combat abuse of work permits and facilitate the integration of foreigners into the Polish labour market. It is planned to introduce new IT systems for verification of permits, expand the powers of employment services and create a list of professions in which the issuance of permits will be limited.
