Ukraine has announced the winners of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize in 2025. The corresponding decree of the President of Ukraine was published on 9 March on the official website of the head of state.
The winners of the prize are figures of literature, music, theatre, cinema and art. In particular, the award went to poet Yuriy Izdryk for his book Collection, and journalist Pavlo Kazarin for his project Wartime Journalism at Ukrayinska Pravda. Among the music and theatre awardees are director Vasyl Vovkun for his productions at the Lviv National Opera, violinist Bohdana Pivnenko, composer Oleksandr Shymko, and artists working in the Petrykivka painting technique. In the Cinematography category, the prize was awarded to director Oleksander Sanin, cinematographer Serhiy Mykhailchuk and composer Alla Zahaykevych for the film Dovbush.
The award in 2025 is worth UAH 484,480. This is the highest state award for cultural figures, which has been awarded since 1961. It is a lifetime award, meaning that it can be received only once.
