The Armed Forces of Ukraine have appointed a gender advisor to coordinate interaction between the branches and services and the Ministry of Defence. Oksana Hryhorieva, a public figure and former gender advisor to the Land Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, has been appointed to the position.

The appointment was made as part of the implementation of a comprehensive gender strategy in the army. The implementation of gender policy is one of Ukraine’s commitments on its way to joining the EU and NATO, and is also in line with the National Security Strategy and sustainable development goals.
The Ukrainian army is consistently working to integrate the principles of equality, expanding opportunities for female servicewomen and improving the policy of protecting the rights of women in the army.
