At the first meeting of the Kyiv Barrier-Free Council, 10 routes were presented to make the city more accessible for people with limited mobility. These are specific pedestrian and transport routes that will ensure unimpeded movement of people with disabilities, parents with strollers, the elderly and other citizens who need convenient conditions for movement.

The new routes include a number of improvements: lowered curbs and convenient exits, tactile strips and navigation for visually impaired people, and updated information boards. In addition, special attention will be paid to barrier-free access to important facilities, including hospitals, pharmacies, administrative service centres, public transport stations, libraries, and museums.
The routes are based on community requests and the social significance of the facilities. One of them covers 25 key points, and the longest one stretches for 21 km and connects the two banks of Kyiv.
During the discussion at the Barrier-Free Council, suggestions and comments on the project were made, which will be taken into account in further work. The authorities emphasise the importance of public engagement and cooperation with experts to develop new routes that will make Kyiv more comfortable for all residents.
