A unique publication, the 30 Pearls of Kyiv guidebook, created specifically for visually impaired people, was presented in Kyiv. The book, printed in Braille and supplemented with embossed images, allows people to tactilely ‘feel’ the architectural beauty of the capital of Ukraine. The presentation took place at the Kyiv City Centre for Rehabilitation of Children with Disabilities.

According to the Kyiv City Centre for Medical and Social Expertise, in 2024 alone, 555 adults in Kyiv became disabled due to visual impairment, of whom more than 180 completely lost their sight. The capital is also home to more than 30 children who have lost sight in both eyes. This demonstrates the importance of creating accessible and adapted materials for this category of people.
The handbook will become part of the educational and rehabilitation programmes at the Kyiv City Rehabilitation Centre and other institutions working with visually impaired people. Some copies will be given to rehabilitation centres and libraries in the city. Institutions interested in receiving the publication can contact the Tourism Department at tourism@kyivcity.gov.ua. The number of copies is limited.
