Ukrainian universities to open robotics laboratories

The RoboLab project is being launched in Ukraine, which will see modern robotics laboratories created in higher education institutions. The initiative was launched by the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Association of Robotics and Automated Systems.

The first pilot laboratory is planned to open at one of Kyiv’s universities. It will have up to 30 workstations and will be equipped with specialised equipment, mechatronics kits, 3D modelling software, robotic platforms and artificial intelligence tools. The creation of the laboratory will take about three months.

According to Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov, RoboLab gives students and teachers the opportunity to work with the latest technologies while still in school, test ideas, and create their own projects.

Applications are now being accepted from universities that wish to become a pilot site for the launch. The selection process will last until 14 September. The winner will be determined by a professional jury, which will include representatives of government agencies, donor organisations, and relevant associations. In the future, the RoboLab network is planned to be scaled up across the country.

Iryna Legkobit, CEO of the Association of Robotics and Automated Systems, emphasised that the launch of the laboratories is an investment in the development of the engineering community and competitive specialists, as well as a contribution to the future of Ukraine’s economy.

The project is being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Ukraine-Moldova American Enterprise Fund, Ajax Systems, and Deus Robotics.
