The White Angel has suspended evacuations from Pokrovsk – it is too dangerous

The White Angel police unit has temporarily suspended the evacuation of civilians from Pokrovsk in Donetsk Oblast. The reason is constant shelling by Russian troops, which has made entering the city too dangerous. The last time police evacuated civilians from Pokrovsk was on 19 July. This was reported by the head of the unit, Gennady Yudin, in a comment to Tochka Vostoka.

Currently, evacuation tasks are being carried out by the military. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are helping to transport people to safer locations where the White Angel is already operating. In addition to Pokrovsk, the unit is currently operating in Hryshyne and Bilytske.

The situation in the city itself remains critical. Due to daily enemy shelling, Pokrovsk’s infrastructure has been seriously damaged. In particular, on 4 August, drinking water tanks were destroyed, and the centralised water supply was cut off. This was stated by the head of the Pokrovsk Military Administration, Serhiy Dobryak, in a comment to the media outlet Orbita. People are forced to get water from wells.

In addition, supplies in the only store still operating in the city are almost exhausted. According to official data from local authorities, as of early August, 1,342 people remain in Pokrovsk, and 470 in neighbouring Rodynske.

Not only shelling poses a threat, but also the enemy’s information operations. According to the 7th Corps of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russian army continues its attempts to break through the defences of Pokrovsk, in particular by distributing propaganda leaflets from drones. Intercepted communications reveal an order from the Russian command to reach the southern outskirts of the city by 1 September.

Despite the difficult situation, the defence of Pokrovsk continues. The White Angel unit continues to work in the frontline areas in cooperation with volunteers. Requests for evacuation remain valid — if necessary, please call 066-56-19-102.
