The number of applicants wishing to enroll in colleges in 2025 has decreased significantly. According to data from the Unified State Electronic Database on Education, approximately 125,000 applicants have applied for associate degree programs this year. The reasons for the decline in demand for colleges can vary — from demographic changes to graduates reorienting themselves toward other educational or professional paths. In addition, economic factors may influence applicants’ choices, as well as the ongoing war in the country, which affects young people’s educational plans.

However, the decline in interest in such programs may be a signal to review educational policy or update the offerings on the vocational education market.
