On the night of 31 July, Russian troops launched a massive strike on the Ukrainian capital. At least six people were killed in the attack in Kyiv, more than 50 sought medical attention, and 30 of them were hospitalised. Residential buildings, infrastructure facilities, educational institutions and medical facilities in various parts of the city were damaged.

Destruction in residential areas
According to city authorities, the Svyatoshinsky, Solomyansky, Holosiivsky, and Shevchenkivsky districts of the capital suffered the most damage. In the Svyatoshinsky district, the entrance to a residential building was destroyed, cars were burning in courtyards, and non-residential buildings were also on fire.
In the Solomyanskyi district, debris from a UAV fell next to a three-story residential building, causing a gas pipe to catch fire. People were trapped in a garage, and rescue services worked quickly at the scene. Fires broke out at several addresses, burning apartments and non-residential buildings.
In the Holosiivskyi district, damage to buildings was recorded, including a school and a kindergarten. In the Shevchenkivskyi district, the blast wave knocked out windows in the children’s ward of a medical facility.

Wounded and killed
As of 8:53 a.m., the death toll had risen to six. More than 50 people were injured, 30 of whom were hospitalised, while the rest received treatment on site or on an outpatient basis. There are casualties in all areas where damage has been reported.
During the night, the number of injured rose rapidly: at 6:11 a.m., 20 people were reported injured, 8 of whom required hospitalisation. Within an hour, the number rose to 43, and by 7:05 a.m., to 48. At around 8:53 a.m., more than 50 casualties were officially confirmed.
Changes in traffic
Due to the consequences of the attack, a number of streets have been closed. Traffic on Post-Volynska Street is restricted. Changes have also affected public transport services — in particular, trolleybus No. 27 is temporarily running only to Domobudivny Kombinat No. 3.
