In the first half of 2025, Ukrainian parents most frequently chose the names Oleksandr, Mark, Sofiia, and Emiliia for their newborns. These names topped the list of the most popular baby names in Ukraine, according to official statistics from the Ministry of Justice.
“According to the Department of State Registration, the most popular names in Ukraine were Oleksandr and Mark for boys, and Sofiia and Emiliia for girls,” the Ministry of Justice reported.
Other commonly chosen names for boys included Tymofii, Matvii, Maksym, Artem, Bohdan, Damir, Danylo, Dmytro, and Makar. For girls, the top names also featured Yeva, Milana, Solomiia, Viktoriia, Polina, Anna, Mariia, and Veronika.
In addition to traditional names, 2025 saw a rise in more unique and imaginative choices. Boys were also named with ancient and Slavic-inspired names such as Arei, Platon, Enei, Askold, Zoreslav, and Radomyr — as well as more unconventional ones like Kosmos, Lucifer, and Oscar. Girls received rare and poetic names like Alisha, Assol, Valkyriia, Lola, Lukeriia, Aurora, Jasmine, Liia-Ailin, Eden Rose, and Munachimso Aiv.
