The Ministry of Veterans’ Affairs of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science have approved guidelines for the employment of female and male veterans as teachers of the subject “Defence of Ukraine”. The document officially opens up opportunities for the systematic involvement of military personnel in the educational process in schools, taking into account their combat experience.

The idea is not only to create new career prospects for veterans, but also to strengthen military and patriotic education of young people. It is expected that teachers with combat experience will be able to impart knowledge of tactical medicine, first aid, military affairs, topography, weapons, safety rules, etc.
The recommendations define the qualification requirements for candidates, the stages of their employment, opportunities for professional adaptation and development, labour guarantees, remuneration conditions, and provide for information and psychological support. According to the ministries, veterans can become not only teachers but also carriers of values that shape the responsible generation.
The document is already available for review by school managers and local authorities.
