More than 52,000 people evacuated from Sumy region

More than 52,000 residents have been evacuated from 202 localities in Ukraine’s Sumy region. The figure was announced by the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Oleh Hryhorov, during a live broadcast on Suspilne.Studiia.

Hryhorov stated that nearly 2,400 people were evacuated just over the past week. In total, more than 86,000 residents from the border areas of the region are subject to evacuation, meaning over 60% have already left.

“We provide transportation, shelter, and support — humanitarian, financial, and psychological,” he said.

The region continues to suffer from ongoing shelling, which has significantly damaged infrastructure. Nearly 21,000 households are currently without electricity, and over 10,000 are without gas.

Evacuation efforts are ongoing, but local residents are now facing additional challenges linked to the destruction of critical infrastructure.
