“Book Country” at VDNKh attracted 72,500 visitors and sold 90,000 books

From April 24 to 27, VDNKh hosted the third Book Country literary festival, which set new records in terms of the number of visitors and books sold. The event brought together over 72,500 guests, and the number of books sold reached 90,000. The festival has become one of the largest cultural events in Ukraine, attracting literature lovers from all over the country.

Among the main novelties of this season were the special program World Fantasy Tree and the expanded creative program #Frontmen, which highlighted the role of military and veterans in literature and art. The festival featured 365 events, including presentations, discussions, master classes, autograph sessions, theater performances, game libraries, and quests.

In total, the festival sold books worth over UAH 28 million. One of the most popular books was The Gaze of the Jellyfish by Lyubko Deresh, which won the Book Bloggers Award. Other bestsellers included One Foot Under Kyiv by Serhiy Skryshevsky, The Colony by Max Kidruk, and The Bride by Ali Hazelwood.

The festival organizers, including Book Country founder Yevhen Mushkin, noted the consistently high interest in the event and said that the next festival, which will take place in September 2025, promises new surprises for its guests.

Over the three years of Book Country, the festival has attracted over 210,000 visitors. In addition to the cultural program, the event featured charitable initiatives to support the military and their families, with the participation of Serhiy Prytula’s foundations and other volunteer organizations.
