Evacuation of civilians in Kupyansk region intensified due to shelling by FPV drones

The evacuation of civilians in the Kupyansk region has intensified due to intense shelling, including with the use of FPV drones. According to Oleksandr Humanyuk, head of the organisation ‘Rose on the Hand’, these drones pose a significant danger, reaching even Kupyansk. People, seeing the injuries and deaths of their neighbours, decide to leave dangerous areas, Hromadske Radio reports.

On 18 March, a Russian drone attacked a civilian car between Kupiansk and Kindrashivka, killing a 46-year-old woman and injuring four people. The most dangerous areas of Kupiansk remain the neighbourhoods of Vuzlove, Kivsharivka, Prystyn and Borova, where Russian troops are closing in.

The main reasons for refusing to evacuate are fears for property, uncertainty about where to go and concern for pets. Most evacuees want to stay in Kharkiv region, hoping to return home soon.
