On 4 March, residence permits issued to 15,000 Ukrainian refugees expired in Latvia. However, the Latvian Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs (PMLP) has announced that it will continue to accept applications for renewal of documents even after the official deadline.

According to the PMLP, most Ukrainians failed to submit their applications on time. The agency urges to check the validity of your residence permit or visa and submit the necessary documents as soon as possible. This can be done by email, through the post office or in person at the relevant service centres.
Timely application will allow Ukrainians to retain the right to work and social benefits in Latvia. The PMLP emphasises the importance of not delaying the application process to avoid problems with legalisation.
